What is your favourite U of M moment & why?
​I am most grateful for the exact moment when I realized that nutrition was what I wanted to study! The idea of pursuing a career in nutrition and becoming a dietitian was exciting!
When did you know that the FAFS is where you wanted to be?
​As a student with a disability, my ‘aha’ moment occurred when I realized how easily the nutrition course content was coming to me! I looked forward to attending my classes and was surprised to notice how much I was enjoying them! It made me so excited and happy that I finally found my passion and future career! It’s a reminder that even though I’m disabled, I’m not letting that hold me back from exploring my passions.
What are you most looking forward to this academic year?
Hopefully, to make the honour list!
What is your favourite food to cook?
​I love making dishes with wild game, such as venison Oso Buco. Braised and slow cooked deer shank with veggies on top of a bed of rice. Delicious!​​​​
What is your favourite U of M moment & why?
​The experience I am most grateful for is meeting all of the FAFS academic advisors in-person. Over a four year period, these amazing women answered all my questions regarding the HNS program. I am thankful for all their support and help.
When did you know that the FAFS is where you wanted to be?
​At the end of my first degree, I sat down and analyzed my experience. My 'aha' moment occurred when I realized that the courses that I expressed the most interest in and came the most naturally to me were in plant sciences, nutritional sciences, and health/disease/medical courses. Since my first initial contact with the department via email, I knew I had to make the sacrifice to move to Winnipeg from Vancouver.
What are you most looking forward to this academic year?
I am determined to graduate debt free!
What is your favourite food to cook?
​I love making baked tofu and vegetables (all kinds) with different herbs and spices. It's a great healthy, phytonutrient-packed, vegetarian dish that is so easy to customize.
